CTO Coaching Experience and Accreditation
Why Accreditation Matters
Technical leadership by CIOs and CTOs is high stakes, and failure has serious consequences. While real-world experience is important, it is not enough. Professional coaching training and accreditation ensure that the coaching methodology is effective, rigorous, repeatable and ethical.
The Institute of Executive Coaching and Leadership (IECL) is a best-in-class Australian accreditation that meets professional practice expectations. This program is, in turn, accredited by the International Coaching Federation, which is the national peak body for executive coaching. The Leadership Circle Profile is a leading internationally recognised and validated assessment instrument.
Combining these broader coaching frameworks with the Leadership Circle's data-driven insights provides a tested and repeatable coaching process to help CTOs and CIOs move beyond reactive habits and into creative, strategic leadership.

Sample Engagements
Developing emerging CTOs: Engaged to develop an internal candidate to be the best successor for CTO leadership transition. Over six months, we developed the “hard job skills” necessary to lead a global team and leaned on our use of the Leadership Circle Profile to identify and develop the “soft skills” to be a welcome contributor to the executive committee and Board. The company ran a global search, and this candidate successfully won the permanent role.
Developing newly appointed CTOs and CIOs: Coached and mentored multiple newly appointed CTOs/CIOs to help them transition from functional managers into effective executives and enterprise-level leaders. My brief from the CEO: Quickly get them up-to-speed and on track for long-term success.
Scale experienced CTO leadership capacity: Coached an experienced CTO to become a more effective leader with broad influence across the enterprise. We discovered and overcame existing beliefs and behaviours that limited her success. I mentored through a significant restructuring of the tech organisation to lift execution capability and deliver a new consumer product line.
Improve relationships to increase impact: I coached an experienced CIO to improve engagement with peer executive stakeholders and then launch a successful digital transformation of the business.
Develop emerging leaders: Engaged in developing emerging female leaders in two organisations identified for future C-level roles. Through coaching, I instilled strong leadership skills, practices, and mindsets. I mentored them to encourage risk-taking and active participation, building confidence and leadership presence. This collaboration with senior colleagues and their Boards further enhanced their profiles and career trajectories.
